6 large cloves of garlic, keeping a thin layer of skin on them (provides extra flavor)

1 cup of coarse salt (sea salt or kosher salt works best)

  1. Preheat your oven to 200F.

  2. Put the garlic and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Run for about 30 seconds until the salt has started to turn into a powder, and the garlic is no longer visable.

  3. Spread the salt mixture on a large flat baking sheet.

  4. Bake for about 2 hours, until completely dry. (it will form into cakes, break off a peice and crush between your fingers to tell when it's ready)

  5. Break up the salt cakes and return them into a food processor. Run until all lumps are gone and the salt is smooth.

  6. Store in tightly sealed glass jar.

It's that simple! Now you have long lasting garlic salt which adds depth and flavor to any dish you want a bit of a garlic punch to.
